"ในปัจจุบันนี้สถานะทางสังคมที่เท่าเทียมเกิดจากการรู้ภาษาอังกฤษ อาจจะกล่าวได้ว่าสาเหตุหนึ่งของความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคมเกิดจาก “ English Literacy” หรือ “การเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษ” การสอนภาษาอังกฤษในศตวรรษที่ 21 ที่ผู้เรียนมีความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมและสังคม รวมทั้งภาษาที่ใช้มีความเปลี่ยนแปลงตลอดเวลา การสอนจึงควรพัฒนาให้ผู้เรียนสามารถใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาสากล คือ ใช้ได้กับทุกคนที่ไม่ได้พูดภาษาไทย หรือภาษาแม่ของตน”

In the world where knowledge and information is fast changing, teachers need to be able to design lessons and curricula that are 'up-to-date' and help prepare their students for the 'unknown' future.
To be able to perform such challenging tasks, we need to keep learning. Having motivation to learn, unlearn, and relearn is the first important factor.
The skill sets for lifelong learning are also needed. These include, but not limited to, language skills, technology and digital skills, and learning skills.
First, to access information and knowledge, language competence, in both Thai as the local language and English as the lingua franca in international academic community, is needed.
The second skill set is the ability to employ technology and digital skills in learning since many learning resources are now online or digital-based.
Last, we need to develop the competence to learn independently. As lifelong learners, we need to be able to learn from a variety of learning resources and handle challenges in the learning process.

“Since we are living together in this globalizing world, intercultural awareness is one of necessary skills for English language users in intercultural communication. We, as English teachers, need to integrate communicative strategies and intercultural awareness into our teaching practices, so that we can raise our students' awareness of cultural diversity and develop their use of English as a global lingua franca. Then, students can truly achieve intercultural understanding and effectively communicate in multilingual and multicultural contexts. ”
